No recovery for small business
I have always maintained that small business could easily lead the U.S. economic recovery. Unfortunately, time in and time out, our elected leaders refuse to understand this, much less do anything meaningful about it.
As this article suggests, there is more and more evidence that small business will be left out of any recovery, and once again, quite possibly left high and dry.
If this...

Tear up the policy manual!
Friends of mine received a package from a retailer to their place of business. Though their business name was on the box, packing slip and receipt, no one ordered the products in the box. Being good people, they also checked with their neighbors. Here too, no one ordered the goods.
When the retailer was contacted with all of this information, they offered this response.

Is there a doctor in the house?
Have you and your employees met your health insurance deductible for 2009?
If so, I highly encourage you and them to get any tests, procedures, treatments. annual physicals, etc. done before 2009 ends. You may also want to fill any maintenance medication prescriptions before the end of the year as well.
While there is an obvious benefit to you and your staff financially, the less...

Thank you military!
Though we should do this every day, today is a special day to take a moment to remember and to thank those brave military personnel who defend our liberty, both home and abroad.
If you happen to have the honor of encountering an active member or a veteran of the military today, please take a moment to shake their hand and to thank them for their service and sacrifice for our country.

Who is your competition?
Working with a client today I learned that they were following my directions to the letter in making certain to call at least 5 potential customers a day. Great job, but, one problem.
When the potential customer rejected them, they were forgetting to ask which competitor they were using and happy with? Why is this important? If you don’t know who you are competing against, how can you...

Do your products matter anymore?
Which is more important; customer service or the products that you offer? As Sprint Wireless is quickly learning, both are equally important.
Powerfeedback has conducted wireless telephone research studies (not for Sprint) and by all measure, Sprint has made dramatic improvements in customer service. This is good news as it was only 2 years ago that Sprint found itself mired in bad...
