Business Tip for-07/07/09
Today’s business tip is a little different, but no less important than the direct advice that I normally offer.
Please check out this link, and then contact your representative to urge them to pass H.R. 2568. If you are unsure as to who your congressmen or senator are, using the “find your representative” tool on Vote Smart’s website, you can easily locate this information.
What is H.R. 2568?
“H.R. 2568; the Fairness and Transparency in Contracting Act. H.R. 2568 is the only legislation written to stop the flow of billions of dollars in small business contracts to Fortune 500 companies and foreign firms.”
The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez (D-NY-12), The Obama Administration and others oppose its passage. Why? If passed, this legislation would make certain that Federal small business contracts actually went to small businesses versus wealthy investors, shell corporations of multi-national conglomerates, and venture capitalists.
Even if your business doesn’t do business with the Federal Government today, you may decide to in the future. If H.R. 2568 is not passed, those prospects will be very bleak for you.
